ALL-CAN Training
People & Partners

ALL-CAN Training is delivered by a consortium of leading cancer research institutions across the island of Ireland, bringing together complementary strengths in precision oncology, genomics, data science, epidemiology and translational research.

  • Queen’s University Belfast
  • University College Dublin
  • Trinity College Dublin
  • University of Limerick
  • Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

Through this partnership, ALL-CAN Training provides access to a broad academic community and a diverse supervisory environment that reflects the interdisciplinary nature of precision cancer medicine.

Leadership, Supervision and Governance
The programme is led by Professor Mark Lawler (Programme Director) and Professor Nick Orr (Programme Lead), who provide strategic leadership and academic oversight across the partnership. They are supported by a dedicated Programme Manager, responsible for coordination, recruitment, and day-to-day programme delivery.

Doctoral training within ALL-CAN Training is supported by joint supervision, with supervisory teams drawn from across partner institutions and, where appropriate, international research environments. This model ensures that students benefit from a breadth of expertise and perspectives throughout their training.

Governance of ALL-CAN Training is provided through a structured framework designed to ensure:

  • Academic quality and research excellence
  • Transparent and fair recruitment and selection processes
  • Effective coordination across institutions and jurisdictions
  • Meaningful patient and public involvement in the programme

As the programme develops, governance arrangements will continue to support student engagement and external input to promote continuous improvement and alignment with best practice in doctoral training.
